Honeymoon Venue: Barnsley House, Cotswolds UK
When considering an overseas honeymoon (or even a destination wedding), the venue selection can be rather harrowing with an entire world to consider. As part of our #honeymoonhumpday series, we're going to be bringing you a variety of venue profiles, honeymoon styles and tips every Wednesday to help you narrow your options down to somewhere truly amazing.
Today's venue profile is for Barnsley House in the Cotswolds, just 90 minutes by car or 60 minutes by train from exciting London.
While Barnsley House has 18 rooms on offer, our personal choice would be the Home Farm Cottage, part of the Barnsley House and Village Pub offering but separate enough to guarantee you newlyweds perfect privacy and seclusion.
The Cottage is a three bedroom self-catering house with its own gardens, fully equipped with everything you'll need. They even provide a welcome hamper of fresh milk, freshly baked bread and farmyard eggs and they'll go out of their way to arrange other groceries and local produce at your request.
They'll even cater a bespoke menu specifically for you at the cottage which can be delivered to the kitchen or served at your dining table - in case you can't bear to leave the house. A few yards away, you'll find The Village Pub, home to delicious food and homely ambiance. A short walk further and you'll find the main house and gardens, The Potager Restaurant and Bar for a more formal dining experience, day spa and even a cinema.
Once you finally decide to emerge from the cottage, you'll find a plethora of things to do: whether you'd like to borrow a row boat , taking a picnic hamper with you, explore the area on horseback or on a romantic bicycle complete with basket, play a few rounds of tennis or golf, watch some polo, go fishing, shoot clay targets, or take a drive through the countryside, Barnsley House has it all!
Another bonus of Barnsley House is that it can also double as your destination wedding venue using either your own Wedding Planner or their inhouse Events Manager. Why not hire out the entire 30 person cinema, or embrace the majesty of the curated gardens with the striking castle-like house as your backdrop?
We can just imagine the incredible wedding photos you could get even strolling through the village streets. (Just make sure you wear wedges of flats because high heels and cobblestones don't mix!)
